Noobish questions from someone who should know how to do these t

I have had this game since boxing day, I have five badges(about to get my sixth) and am currently trying to hatch my Riolu egg, I have the explorer kit and have had it for a while but I havent quite figured out how to use it.
Could someone please help me? I am absoloutely stumped about were and how to use it. Also, I have been in a dispute with a friend of mine, when do you get the national dex? Is it when you defeat the elite four or is it when you see all of the sinnoh pokemon?

I know these questions sound noobish especially I have experience with emerald and crystal, I just can't for the life of me figure it out. Thankyou to all the question answerers out there.

Lol, to use the explorer kit, go stand on any area with dirt or ground, and use the explorer kit, and you'll be able to go underground. Both, you have to beat the elite four, and then by that time you'll have already seen all the pokemon. When you find all 151, go talk to prof. Rowan in his building, and he'll give you the national pokedex.

Your welcome, ask more.

Explorer Kit.

It is used to access the Sinnoh Underground. The Guy in Eterna City (Next to the Pokemon center) gives you little mission that help you learn how to use it.
Basically, to treasure hunt, tap the screen you are walking on. You may see these sparkling things on the screen. Walk up to them and press A. You are then in the treasure hunt screen, where you can try to search for treasure. You have either The Hammer or Pick Ax (Meh..i call them that). THe hammer covers more area, but destroys the wall faster. The pick ax covers less area, but does not destroy the wall as much. Basically, hit the screen to break bits of the wall to try find treasure. When you fins it, destroy the wall covering the treasure to Dig it up.

Treasure hunting is basically the most of the under ground, but you may find Traps there. They are basically things you can set to annoy your friends when you link (i.e go in the underground at the same time.)

Hikers in the underground exchange Goods for Spheres that you find in the underground (Treasure hunting). Burying a sphere and leaving it for a while makes them 'grow' bigger. Burying Multiple spheres of the same type on top of each other make them grow faster.

Bases in the underground can be created by using the Digger Drill tool (Obtained either from hikers or Eterna guy). You can decorate your Base with Furniture obtained from hikers. To remove the rocks in your base, you have to 'upgrade' the level of your base flag, by capturing other peoples base flags and storing them in your pc.

As for the National dex, it is obtained after you beat the Elite 4 and After you see all the Sinnoh pokemon. Hope this Helps,

Zaltias

Righty-ho! Well done on getting the badges so quickly... You must be playing it a fair bit (and who wouldnt!)

I had the same thing with the explorer kit, but if you use it, you can go into the underground network... When you do, you use your stylus to tap on the walls on screen and you will see flashing things on the walls and ground nearby. Then go up to them and 'look'... The things on the ground are traps, and the things on the wall are gems that you can 'grow' if you bury them in the floor (keep track of where you bury them though, the underground is huge!) and special items like leaf-stones and fire stones etc... There are also fossils to be found that can be regenerated by a guy in oreburgh city in the museum place there. (just ask around in the coal museum there) You can dig up the items from the walls and there are miner-type guys all over the underground who will trade some special types of gems that you dig up, and give you cool items in return... But you need the right size and colour, that's why you need to 'grow' the gems... The gems will grow a bit each day, so keep an eye on them, too, just so you get the right sort!

Oh, the 'national dex' means the sinnoh dex... You need to have seen (not necessarily caught) all of the Pokemon in Sinnoh... You can do this with only one game... There are trainers with th ones you can't catch... (some of these you will only see by battling the elite four because they have some really rare ones, and if you have diamond or pearl, you can see the other 'cover pokemon' (dialga/palkia) that's not in your game by talking to the grandma that you give the pendant to (i think it's celestic town... She will show you a photo. You don't need to trade to see every sinnoh Pokemon, you just really should try to battle every trainer.

And the riolu egg takes a while to hatch... Not as much as an eevee... Do you know how to evolve your riolu? I won't tell you in case you'd like it to be a surprise... But the info is available on:

If you want it.

They have the best info on Pokemon and their site is fantastically easy to use!

Don't worry, I have been playing Pokemon for years, and I'm a grown up now, so things like this shouldn't stump me either... But they do, and that's why I love pokemon... The games aren't shallow! Have fun!

1. For your Riolu situation, just keep it in your team and walk around with it. After you take about 5,000 steps with it in your team, it should hatch.

2. You can use the Explorer Kit anywhere, except in caves or in buildings. So, just select the item in your bag and use it, and you will be taken to the Sinnoh Underground, where many in-game and wi-fi accomplishments can be done. In order to learn the majority of what can be done, talk to the Underground Man in Eterna City; he is the guy in the house east of the Pokemon Center, and the same person you received the Explorer Kit from. He will give you some "missions", and the missions he gives you are mainly what you can do whilst Underground.

3. For your Poke Dex situation, just know that Poke Dex you currently have is the Sinnoh Poke Dex. Once you have seen all 150 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Poke Dex, you talk to Rowan in his lab in Sandgem Town, and Oak comes up and gives you the National Poke Dex. You do not need to beat the Elite Four to obtain the National Poke Dex, however in order to see some of the Pokemon in the Sinnoh Poke Dex, it is much easier to also beat the Elite Four; Spiritomb, a Pokemon that the Champion has, is a Pokemon that is very difficult to capture; so, just beating the Elite Four is a great help for you. However, again, you only need to see all 150 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Poke Dex, and beating the Elite Four is NOT required.
