Palkia Statue

What is the deal with the Palkia Statue in Eterna City? Does it do something special or is it just for show? Is it like a key to something else? I'm lost.
Seems like I'm always lost don't it! ;D

It's just a statue that foreshadows a legendary pokemon.
In Diamond, it's of Dialga. In Pearl, it's of Palkia.

Yes it does because behind it I believe the Dragon Plate is there.

Yep, the special thing about the Palkia statue in Diamond, and the Dialga statue in Pearl (yes, in each game there is a statue of the legendary cover Pokemon from the other game... Dialga in pearl, and palkia in diamond... Not the other way around)

I digress, sorry, if you go directly to the middle of behind the statue, and 'look' on the ground (Ie, search there) you will find the 'Draco Plate' which is one of the plates you can use with Arceus. And they can strengthen those type moves if a Pokemon is holding them...

Sorry that reads like a bunch of gobbledygook, but my brain's not working well... it's really warm where I am...

There is a draco plate directly behind the statue. The dowsing app should help you find it

Why don't you all shut up and learn that in diamond it is palkia and that in pearl it is dialga and there is a draco plate in the back of the tribute plus it does nothing special
