I believe you are able to. It all depends if an Event is for that area/game. If you check out serebii.net, it will tell what Events are happening and where.

I don't know if it was a mistake, but I think you meant Maldives. If Hopefully, if you live their you would know how to spell it and if you don't live their why do you need to know?
Anyway, I belive you might be able to but I'm not sure aand you should really check our Serebii to find out for sure.
