There's a firmware update you have to download. If you have AR DS, Download v 1.7.1 and make sure your AR is connected to your PC. Drag the file to the code manager and it'll update your AR. The updating process will take around 10-15 minutes. Hope this helps.

If you have an action replay, use the dsi code manager and update it from there. You do that for everything involving ar updates...
P.S. If you've enetred dragon quest ix codes into it, youll have to reset the dsi code manager by clicking on the ar logo on the top left part of it adn select "reset action replay" in the bottom left area of the screen that comes up
