How can you get your dog to listen to you/ do tricks (already taught) in the obidience because my dog just stands there and wags his tail is there any way for him to just do his tricks?

Yes, when you teach your dog the trick(s), you need to say it the same way each time. So, in the Obedience Trials, whether your dog does the trick or not depends on whether you said it the same way you did when you were training him or not.
Also, it helps if you practice several times before the competition so on the requirements where it says to, say, "Lay Down for 10 seconds" there is a better chance of your dog staying for the full length of time.
