All you have to do is get more trainer points, and when you have enough for another breed of dog, it gives you a message saying that that dog is now available. Another way to get a new breed of dog is finding a Fireman`s Hat while you`re on a walk, and you can buy a Dalmation.

I have more to add to Shippo1's answer. If you find the Jack Russell Terrier book, you get the Jack Russel Terrier. Also, if you go in bark mode, the first time you go with every new person on your friend's list, you get the dog they bring. What I do is I delete all of my friends and go with them again, so that I can get more dogs. Hope this helped!
