Question for New Super Mario Bros

How do I turn the fire flower when mario shoot's flame ball's from his hand how do I get him to turn the flame ball's into ice ball's???

In 'New Super Mario Bros. (WII) there are two different kinds of flowers; there are white flower (ice flower) and red flower (fire flower) get the white one to turn them into 'ice balls' and freeze any enemy accept bosses.
