Gold star? That can be found in most lightposts and some houses.

The more essences you collect, the more objects you can make. I've made one object for each essence (2 of the same essences combined) and placed them near Carpenter's house, for easy access. Once you make the objects (or houses), you can use your Synth-O-Tron on them, too. Mix two stars to make an 'orange' tree, then you'll have easy access to more stars
