Question for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

How do I jump on the platform under the Fairy Sprite to free it from the pinkish ball? It's too far away!
I am a beginner at Mario and Luigi games and need help!!!!!

Go to the pipe on the right.You will blast into the air and hit a block.Then go to the pipe on the right you just activated.You will again blast in the air and the pipe in the middle will appear.Then go in there and you blast into Starlow,releasing him out of the pink,gross thing.He will talk to you to proceed on,finding Peach.Then you get Luigi...
