I alway press A when the number 3 come up then do the same for 2 and 1. It normaly works, but if you hold down A it wont you will end up blowing off. Hope I helped.

Well I have one start boost way this is how I so it.
Well when the numbers are counting down accrelrate for every number on 1 just hold the accrelrate button and then you get a starting boost.

Burn1ng_Glor13 answered:

Alright, first off all the other ways are o.k., I guess, but to get the best boost you need to hold down the A button when the 2 on the countdown is about to fade away. NOTE: You should practice on v.s. Mode first so you can master it and always get it in real races.

Zelda_Fan answered:

When the 2nd light is starting to fade away you have to hold down A. It takes a bit of practice so you should to it in Time Trials(TT). In TT just practice and after the start see if you did it right or not and restart. The other ways work but this way is by far the easiest. I hope I could help.
