Um.. I have an answer for your question.
Heavy weight people is better for 150cc(donkey kong,bowser,wario)
And light people is better for 50cc(toad,yoshi)

I personally always use the Shooting Star with Luigi and I rarely lose but it also takes a matter of skill. Just keep trying, choose who you think is best and you will win eventually.
