Playing as Sam and Need Help?

I am playing as Sam and I am in the lab, I have found the girl from the eplane and need to get her medicine. I have been in all the rooms with Claire in the lab and returned to base to ask questions and there is no option of asking about the medicine. I have been to the gas place and I just cannot get past it, everytime I have been the gas does not move from the same point near the exit. Can somebody please help me as I am so close to chucking my DS out the window? Pleeeeeeease!!!!

Hi.

Actually, from the first Lost in Blue, I remember that when you have a torch equipped, you can actually burn the gas. That way, you would be able to cross this last point. I can`t confirm it`s still like that in the 3rd one (I'm not that far yet), but I can`t think of any other reason to be able to make torches...

I hope, this was any helpful. Maybe someone could confirm it's true?

Make sure you've opened all the hatches (codes are on lockets and floor scraps) and walked around the jungle and other beach, maybe even picked up the map out of the old ship (door that's usually blocked by water) then keep asking question to partners. One of them should mention medicine and then that will allow you to get across the gas zone for the root.
