Question for Lost in Blue

This is going to sound dumb but across the lake there is another cave. I was wondering if I'm supposed to kind of move me and skye there to live instead of the original cave. If not then what am I supposed to use it for?

P.S. I got past the ruins before but my game glitched and I lost all my data.

That's what I thought at first as well. It's impossible to move there permanently, unfortunately, since it's in such a convenient place. Its purpose is a kind of rest stop for you and Skye when you are exploring beyond the caldera and take her with you. She cannot keep the fire going or cook while you are there, so if I ever do use it it's either alone when I'm really tired or just for a night to refresh both of us before moving on, though the hot spring usually does the trick. To escape certain ways you have to bring Skye with you to the other side of the island, so it's just useful for the ill-prepared.
