Question for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

How do you get the Sorting hat on year 5 chapter 2? I completed the shooting game but I can't get the golden ring to work to transport me. I have tried using Luna in freeplay mode and this isnt working. Any ideas?

I think you have to learn how to aparate first before you can get to it. 8( I've been looking for an answer too and it is the only one I can seem to find.
