How do I use the apparate ring on nds in year 6 chapter 4 cave enterance when it has multiple destinations (exact buttons)?

The trick is after you press and hold the A and the direction options display, you must then hold down the direction you want to go and KEEP holding onto it. Let go of A and THEN let go of the direction button. So once again, let go of the direction button AFTER you've released the A.
