Question for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

I am stuck on Year 2 Chapter 4: Collecting Ingredients, when I go to the outside area the owl appears in the top right corner, but never flashes to reveal the hidden object. Hence I can't make the plant grow to reach the higher level and the broom stick that I can see which I suspect will allow me to find the other ingredients and I can't go back into the infrimary either. Was I supposed to unlock Scabbers or Crookshanks in year 1 and if so where and how do I do this? Thank you

Go to the side of screen and you'll find a hole in the gate go through and left then you'll see a bunch of coins forming some kind of a circle walk towards it the your owl will start flashing, press it and you will get a potion.walk to a plant and place the potion down then jump on to 2 leafs then use magic to stop the walls knockin you of do this 3 times and destroy the boxes and find the scarab beetle.

Omg lol yea there are three entrances to get to the other area by where the broom is and when you follow the coinc its brings you to the corner with the ring of coins and then the owl will flash :D
