Well to get through the checkpoint you must go all the way around the other way, then you can buy a permit to get through it. And did you see Habiki yet? If you just beat the king there thats what you should do next.

After you beat king Masuko you go upwards near the checkpoint and into narrow way between to thin mountain things. Once your in the narrow way, go farther and at the bottom you go into the little hut thing. Inthe little hut, go up to the rock and press A then once your in go up then right then further right or down where you'll find a narrow pathway at the bottom. Go through there and press A on the little statue thing.
Then go back the way you went and instead, go up to the leftthrough the little doorway like things.keepgoing up until you reach the little shrine like thing.
Put the statue on it and talk to the god of Habaki. After you have the sword thing from the god Habaki, go back the way you came and go out.
Once you're out of the little hut thing, go to Jinen jis house and speak to his mother. She'll giv you directions on ho to get through the check point.
Once you go through the path, go to one of the vallages and one of the villagers will sell you a pass to go through the check point.
