I'm already into my 1st year of summer and they still haven't given me an Ax but they're asking me for logs to clear the tunnel what's up?

You have to befriend Sheng (man in panda suit)to 5000 Flower Points, so if you don't give him gifts you'd have to talk to him 500 times. Speaking to them gives you 100 fp per day. Then, he'll put a request on the message board asking for some things you find in the mountain area (can't remember what)and money and in return he'll give you an axe.
Only have to get Sheng to 500 or so fp for axe I managed withoutj trying just talk to him for 5 days, and request will come up at the beginning of next season, if you maintain the fp
