Hi, I'm very near the beginning of the game, I don't understand how to unlock the mines. I've tried going after 5pm like it says in the instruction book to carter's dig and it says he will ask me if he can use my hammer but he doesn't. I can't find the answer in any of the questions I've read that are on already. Please help.

You've got to go much later in the evening sweetie... Try after 9 or 10 pm. Don't be holding anything in your tool slot either... Good luck!
Ok what they said wasn't true on my game I opened the mines as early as 10 am and in order to open the mine area you have to have your hammer equipped in your tool slot.
