You can get one piece of golden lumber if you are able to complete the task Thomas gives you on Winter 2. In the morning, he'll ask you for an item at "pick up time". If you give it to him, he'll give you golden lumber.
If he asks for something you don't have stored somewhere, reload the day and he'll ask you for something new. Keep doing this until he asks you for something you DO have. Make sure you save the night before though, so you don't lose everything you've done.

Yes, but it can be difficult. What you have to is on the morning of Winter 2, Thomas will appear and ask a favor of you. He will ask you to get an item for him. Sometimes, he might ask you for a Golden Egg, which doesn't exist in HMDS or HMDSfg(fg=for girls). The reason he asked for it is because it's just a glitch from when you linked your (More)Friends of Mineral Town with your HMDS(fg). If this happens to you, simply save on the night of Winter 1, then go to bed, and then when Mayor Thomas asks you for the item, it might change into something that you are actually able to get in this game.
