Collect grasses from around the town (mushrooms, etc), fish (you can get the fishing pole rather quickly)- or use the fishing cheat. I posted it below just a few questions down.
I think the best way to make easy money is going to the mine and extract stuff like earrings, necklaces, and selling them to Van, in the inn. You can get a lot of money like this.
