Use the exploding spell to open the gate. but how bdo you cast the exploding spell???
To open the switches equip the decoy detonator (the potions part) once you equip it, draw a decoy detonator path (with the stylus from harry to the switch) Then confirm the path, when the decoy detonator has hit the switch it will activate the switch.
If it is the one I think you are at you have to send a decoy detonator over the little bridge there is a small gap in the fence for it and then the gate will open.
Killing guards will sometimes give you a detonator, to get a guard just step in the sensor. The switch is the green ball.
