All the teams in the battle Royales are level 20 ranks. Most have nasty effects on your AZ vivosaur, so make sure you have guys that can attack from the SZ. I had to figure out a team, then go out and rank them up to near or at level 20. If you build up donation points, you can buy battle points from the donation point lady in the cleaning rooms. The 100 point package is your best value-each vivosaur on your active team will go up 2 levels, sort of like getting 500 battle points at once.
If I recall correctly, the first tournament wants only carnivores. Guy #1 has 3 big earth type vivosaurs, so find some fire type carnivores, rank them up and have fun! Hope this helps. Good luck!
