You have to have Joe modify your sonor to detect the sardinisaurus fossil. That will happen near the end of the main game when you're trying to save the islands by injecting the pillars with a calcium injection, which Joe makes from this fossil. Go to the Petrified Forrest and go to the very back. You'll find yourself inside a petrified tree withe some vines hanging down in front of you. Climb up, and the fossil is on top of the tree. The sardinisaurus shows up as a red dot. As far as I know, this is the only time this fossil shows up in the game and you never get to clean and revive it; Joe just uses it to make the calcium injection. Hope this helps. Good luck!
