Midlight's Deep

Alrighty, so I have this kid that I babysit, and he recently got me into Revanat Wings. He's stuck on the first mission after chapter 9, Midlight's Deep, Well of Whispered Oaths. I'm a veteran at FF, but I lost twice on this mission! I'm lost, he's lost, therefore, we're stuck, Marlboroughs keep killing us. Anyone wanna help out with a strategy or something?

This is a tuffy. The first group of enemies on the spokes you kill triggers the appearance of a malboro in the center. The second group triggers two malboros in the center, the third three, etc. The only way I survived was to keep returning to the center after every spoke was defeated & face the new monsters before going to another spoke. The outer monsters won't come in, but the center ones will chase you & you could end up having 12+ malboros after you (very briefly, yes).
