Question for Final Fantasy III

Hi
Im new to FF3 and I've just got to the bit where you can choose your first jobs.
You get the choice of

Black Mage
White Mage
Thief
Warrior
Red Mage

Please can someone tell me which classes are the best to start with and which character they fit the best with.

Note I can't remember the characters names because I gave them custom names

I decided to give the main character the Thief Job, His best friend the Red Mage Job, The girl the White Mage Job, and the Knight The Warrior Job.

It really doesnt matter who you give what job to, it is all about how you want to play the game. I suggest giving them different jobs unless otherwise needed, so you have some variety.
