Question for Final Fantasy III

How do you cast a cure/cura across your whole party while in combat? Everything I have read(walkthrough's/tips/etc) have hinted that this is possible but I can not find a way to do it.

Select spell, when the cursor appears to cast it on a particular part member press the d pad to the right, this should select your entire party. The reverse of this can be used on enemies i.e. Select spell, hit left when cursor appears entire enemy party is selected.

Select Cure/Cura from your spell list and press right on your control pad. It should have a transparent cursor over all of your characters. Press A and your set.
