Question for Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter

I thought on drawn to life 1 that when you finish the game (like I did) that you've beaten/killed Wilfre... So how did Wilfre come back?

He came back through Heather, that is the whole reason why she is shown being attached to darkness.

but at the end it shows that the darkness of her has disappeared
