Is there anyway you can "pause" your town or something so that cockroaches, weeds, and all that bad stuff doesn't happen, and you don't play the game for a long time?

No, that is what I hate about this game! If you don't play for a week or so things happen! You have to play often to stop it from happening.

Sorry no you can't but that is one of the great things about this game... But it also one of the worst things. If you miss one day you could miss out on something really special like the moon or even the triforce.
