The types of fruit are cherries, peaches, apples, oranges, pears, and coconuts. You can wish on a shooting star. To do that you have to press A when one flies above you. You will get a letter from "The Star" which will have a spotlight item!

HYPA answered:

There are:
Cherries
Oranges
Coconuts
Apples
Pears
Peaches

And yes, you can wish on stars. But you can't be holding any items. Press A while you see one in the sky.

deadbone answered:

Well there is cherries, pears, apples, oranges, and yes you can wish on a star.

JamesTheAwesomeDude answered:

There are, I believe, 6 types of fuit. Apples, Pears, Cherries, Oranges, Peaches (only available through letters from your mom, but these might only be on the Gamecube version,) and Coconuts (only found washed up on the beach, these must be planted very near the beach, and watered every day until maturity.) Let me know if I missed any.
