Hi,
At the begining of the game Tom Nook said I could do tasks for other people to get more money. I didn't understand what he meant. Did he mean the town animals, or animals that come into the town selling stuff? Thanks to anyone who answers!!!

Yes you can get more stuff to sell to nook from locals by doing chores.
You have a mixed answer here. If you talk to a villager animal for long enough, they will give you a job. This job might be, 'catch this fish/bug before me', 'catch the rarest fish/bug', 'get me a paticular type of furniture/clothes', 'get me some clothes', 'deliver this gift', or 'deliver this letter'. Those are the villager jobs I can think of at the moment. If you complete them, you get rewarded. However, if Saharah ever comes to your town, she will give you errands to deliver wallpaper and flooring to special characters, like Nook, Mable, Blathers and so on. Afterwards, she'll give you a very rare wallpaper or carpet only available from her. Hope I answered your question.
WHOA!!! I didn't know Saharah was a GIRL!!! And kudos on the answer. I'll give you a GREAT rating! =)
