Golden Tools and Gulliver

What's the point of getting the golden tools, other than the fact that they're rare? I know that the slingshot can shoot 3 things instead of 1, and the axe never breaks, but what about the others, like the golden shovel? Also, I shot down Gulliver's ship, but I can't find ONE LAST PIECE!! And what do I get when/if I find it?

Golden Shovel allows you to plant Money Trees. Other than that, it's pointless. It's the easiest to get however, so I guess that's why. Golden Fishing Rod makes it so fish don't disappear when they hit your lure (it happens sometimes with normal rod). Golden Net is just bigger so that you can catch stuff easier. Golden watering Can can turn wilted black roses into Golden Roses which never wilt. As for the gulliver's ship question, the piece HAS to be lying around in town, so look VERY closely everywhere. It can't land anywhere but on land and it can't go in buildings either. You will get some one of a kind furniture from him every time you shoot him down and help him.
