The Basics

Here, I will give you the basics to Pokemon Platinum Version, so if you just started the game and do not know the scope, then this article is just for you!

Rated N For Newbies

Control Information

1. Use the arrow keys to move.

2. Press A to skip through conversations, or select something.

3. Press B to go back from one menu.

4. Press X to open your menu.

Initially you will start two steps away from your television and you are watching "Search for the Red Gyrados.

[b][u]Options[b][u]

To get to the Options menu, open the menu and click "Options".

1. Text Speed

You will start with this option set on "Mid" and this controls how fast conversations are. Switch between "Slow", "Mid", and "Fast".

2. Sound

You will start in "Stereo". This controls what kind of sound the music comes out in. Switch between "Stereo" and "Mono".

3. Battle Scene

You will start with your Battle Scene on. This controls whether or not you see move animation in battles.

4. Battle Style

You will start with "Shift". This controls whether or not you get to choose if you want to switch attacking Pokemon after you have made an opponent's Pokemon faint. "Switch" means that you can choose, and "Set" means that your Pokemon will keep it's position as the attacking Pokemon.

5. Button Mode

You will start in "Normal". This controls which buttons you press to activate certain events. Choose "Normal" to keep it the same as it describes in Control Information, "START=X" to make the menu appear when you press either START or X, and "L=A" to be able to skip through conversations and select something by pressing either L or A.

6. Frame

Change the frame of the conversation pop-up by selecting any type betwween "Type 1" and "Type 20".

Trainer Card

To get to your Trainer Card, open the menu and click {Your Name}.

1. Your Trainer Card shows your progress, identity, and information.

2. IDNo.

This is your Trainer ID Number. It has very little purpose throughout the game.

3. Name

This is your name which is what you are identified by throughout the game.

4. Money

This represents the amount of cash you hold. You spend cash throughout the game by buying items in the Pokemart.

5. Pokedex

This number shows how many Pokemon are recorded in your Pokedex.

6. SCORE

This is your game score. It grows when you accomplish things throughout the game.

7. Time

This shows the minute and hour of how long you have been playing the game.

8. Adventure Started

This shows the date when you started the game.

9. Gym Leaders

Gym Leaders are people who you battle to earn a gym badge. If you touch the white button, it will show your gym badges. Touch a gym badge to make a noise.

Save

To get to Save, open the menu and click save.

1. Saving your game means saving any progress you have made.

2. Click yes to save.

Bag

To get to your Bag, open the menu and click Bag.

1. Your Bag stores items you have come across throughout the game.

2. Items

You do not start with any Items. This part of the bag holds typical items.

3. Medicine

You do not start with any Medicine. This part of the bag holds items to heal Pokemon.

4. Poke Balls

You do not start with any Poke Balls. This part of the bag holds items to catch Pokemon with.

5. TMs & HMs

You do not start with any TMs or HMs. This part of the bag holds items to teach moves to compatible Pokemon.

6. Berries

You do not start with any Berries. This part of the bag holds items to make Poffins with or to heal Pokemon with.

7. Mail

You do not start with any Mail. This part of the bag holds items to make Pokemon hold.

8. Battle Items

You do not start with any Battle Items. This part of the bag holds items to make Pokemon stronger.

9. Key Items

You do not start with any Key Items. This part of the bag holds items to unleash an event. You can also register these items to use them whenever you press Y. You cannot get rid of them.
