Watch through the ending and credits at the end of a game you have successfully beaten and press 'A' when the word 'Fin' pops up. You will then be prompted to 'Save' and a star will appear to the right of the file. Reload the file and start a new game and you will have ALL you characters, equipment and levels. If any of your characters had any Blue Hearts they will have turned back to red. If you go north to where you start you will reach a bounus area which is now unlocked.
