Guitar Hero:On Tour.Added 29 Jul 2008, ID #8607
This is the latest instalment in the Guitar Hero franchise and the first to make it on to a handheld console. All the features of the home console versions of Guitar Hero are on this game. The graphics are some of the best I have seen in a DS game so far. The characters are rendered very well and the movement of characters and environment on screen are extremely good. The sound isn't perfect through the DS speakers and unfortunately you can't use the speaker add on while playing this game, but, put in some headphones and it's a completely different story. The sound is crisp and loud, as if you were listening through a stereo. The gameplay is largely the same as console versions of Guitar Hero, with the Guitar Grip being used to play the notes(with a notably absent orange button!) while you strum in time with the scrolling notes using the touch screen. As there are only 4 buttons instead of 5, this title is slightly easier to master than the console versions but it still has a degree of difficulty which means you will still have to practise. The Guitar Duels are a welcome addition,as they see you battling through each song against a cpu controlled character, similar to battle mode in Guitar Hero 3. If you like the 25 songs on offer then it has an endless replay value as you try to beat you own scores. Overall this is an excellent addition to Guitar Hero. Hopefully this means bigger and better versions for handhelds in the future. 8/10.
