To get Epona(the horses name) you first have to get the gorudu mask which is in the ice region of the world. Then you ask a big gorudo in a cave somewhere and he will give you a bomb. Then you go to the rock and turn back human and shoot a fire at the giant boulder blocking the path(you should have already aquired the fire arrows, because thats how you get into the ice place). Then you find Epona the little girl will teach you Epona's song.

You have to be the goron then talk to the big goron inside the cave by the goron palace. He will give you a bomb and a test on how to use them. Finish the test then go back to day one and buy a bomb from him. Then go up to the big rock outside the ranch and blow it up with the bomb. Talk to the girl and she will give you an arrow challenge on the horse. Finish it and the wait until two in the morning. Keep all the ghosts away from the barn untill morning and then you get the horse.

PS: Don't slow down the time before doing the ghost challenge because that just makes it longer and harder. Also, the map helps alot.
