Ok. I have all 120 stars. When I get the cannon up on the roof to visit Yoshi he says "Thanks for playing ... " and he says
"This is not the end of the fun" or something like that and gives you 100 lifes.
I've heard about there is something extra in the game after these 120 stars but I don't know how to get it or what it is... Please help...

No - I'm pretty sure there isn't anything else extra to do in the game after 120 stars - they give you the 100 lives and let you have fun with the levels I'm guessing!
For example - you know the first sliding level that you did in the castle for the first secret star - well - I think they want you to try and find some short cuts like falling off early in the ride and landing near the bottom - it may cost some lives - but that's the point!
There is nothing else after that,he probably means the next Mario game or something. Same type of thing happened in Super Mario World.
Yes, there is something else. You can also go and beat the third bowser again and there will be a different message.

There is something else but I'm not sure what, I was leant the game and the previous owner has their game still saved on it... They have 127 stars, when I looked they have more then 15 stars. I need to find out what they are etc!
Remember the penguin race in the snow world? Well, race him again and he's fat, and a little harder to beat. Also, you get a new triple-jump when you talk to Yoshi, which makes sparkles, and while the sparkles are there, you are basically invincible, and can't be hurt by falling; use it to jump off of the castle! Also, you have to talk to Yoshi every time you turn on the game to get the new jump. I'm still looking for more to do.
There is nothing left to do. Yoshi does also give you an ability though. After your third jump of a triple jump no matter how far you fall you wont get hurt. Unless of course you fall out of the level.
The only thing (as far as I know) to do after catching 120 stars is trying the penguin race again. It will become giant and more difficult to beat. Winning doesn't unlock anything, this is only for additional challenge.
