At The end of the Slide of Cool, Cool, Mountain

At the end of the slide of cool, cool Mountain, there is an arrow pointing up. At the top of it there is a cap where I think there is a secret star. But I can't get up there, I've tried every thing!!! HELP

The arrow is pointing to the area that can be taken by a secret path. Up there is just coins.

True. Also, the scret path is ON the course. There should be a few coins leading up to the wall. The wall is fake and you go through it into a tube. There are also two mushrooms in there which are 1-ups.

Green37899 is right, when your on the slide, there will be a set of about six coins in a row that look like they are leading into the wall, but the wall is a fake. Just follow the coins path and you will go into a tube with some mushrooms to pick up. The tube will spit you out up on the ledge.
