Is there any way to not have to fight Mad Jack to get to Fungi Forest?

Question for Donkey Kong 64

Is there any way to not have to fight Mad Jack to get to Fungi Forest? I am playing this game with my 4 year old son (he is getting pretty good) but we cannot beat that stupid box. We can't get any farther.

Sorry, you to have the 3rd and 4th DK keys, and to get them, yeah, you have to beat him, and the next boss the blowfish who is easier. He is , to me, one of the hardest bosses. If you didn't know, you have to hit him 5 times, and if you thought it couldn't get worse, the fourth time, he turns invisible, it is horrible. I can tell you I couldn't beat it when I was five I could only beat when I was twelve, so good luck.

You don't have to fight Mad Jack, you just need to have enough Gold Bananas to enter Fungi Forest.

By beating Mad Jack though, you'll get another Key to free K. Lumsy - which you will need eventually.

So when you think you or your son's ready for it - give it another few tries =)

Here's some tips that I've offered in the past...

Frantic Factory Boss: Mad Jack with Tiny
- make sure that you have her Pony Tail Whirl (A+A) from Cranky - you won't be able to do this without that attack
- keep avoiding Mad Jack by using the Pony Tail Whirl (A+A) to jump from platform to platform
- once he stops, 2 Switches will appear - go Slam (A+Z) the one that's on the same colour as Mad Jack (white or blue), if it's the wrong one, you will get hurt; also, if Mad Jack's about to hit you, jump off the platforms and fall down, you only lose health if you get hit by him, not if you jump off
- hit Mad Jack 5 times with the Switches to defeat him (after 2 hits, the Switches won't light up, so they'll be harder to find; after 3 hits, he'll start shooting lasers at you, which are difficult to avoid; after 4 hits, he'll go invisible, but you'll still be able to see his shadow)

I thought K. Lumsey had to show you the entrance to fungi forest and you needed the key from Mad Jack to get him to show you? How many bananas do you have to have before you can get in? Where is the entrance?

Ahem, so it's been a while since I played the game lol...
Once you actually get the Boss Keys from both Gloomy Galleon AND Frantic Factory =( go see K. Lumsy, he'll make a Blast Barrel appear - use it to launch to a log cabin and enter Fungi Forest!!!

Oh and you'll need 50 Gold Bananas to enter Fungi Forest!
