Conserve Your Stamina

It is essential when playing as a single player in EA Sports Hockey League or Be a Pro that you always keep an eye on your stamina meter in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Although your stamina will regenerate over the course of the game whether it's between whistles or when your players take a break from skating you still need to conserve your stamina and manage it smartly.

Make sure you don't use the hustle feature too often as it will cause your stamina to deplete fast and result in negative effects for your player, such as loss of speed and temporarily lose out on any traits they have had applied. It is recommended that you only activate the hustle feature when you need an extra burst of pace.

Get Your Free Pack Rewards

Make sure log into Ultimate Team daily for free rewards. There are several ways in which you can play Ultimate Team, these include the new Squad Battle mode introduced in NHL 20. Try to log in once per-day even if you don't have time to play many games in order to collect your free pack rewards.

You will be able to collect your free goodies as soon as you enter into HUT, they will include things like players, coins, and consumables. There is also the possibility of getting collectibles which you can trade for big rewards in the 'Sets' menu.

Do Your Dailies and Weeklies

A good way to learn the various aspects of NHL 20 and hone your skills at the same time is to do your daily and weekly tasks. They will also give you the opportunity to gain experience and obtain more players. The tasks you are given will be challenges that will test your skills in various different ways and the speed in which you complete them will enable you to gauge your overall skill in the game.

Master One-Timers to Rack Up Points

One of the most important attacking skills to master in NHL 20 is one-timers, these are shots that occur immediately after the puck is passed to another player. If you can get the timing correct on this quick one-two punch you will make it extremely difficult for the goalie to stop your shot and you will be able to rack up points in no time.

Timing is everything when you attempt a one timer, the best time to shoot is just before the puck reaches the player it is being passed to. If the player tries to shoot too soon the puck will fly past them and if the player shoots too late the goalie will have time to block the shot.

Be Patient on Defense

The key to being a good defender when playing a defensive role in NHL 20 is to be patient, get good positioning, and wait for things to develop before picking a shot that can break the game open. Make sure while doing so you use the 'protect the puck' feature when an opposing player is trying to poke check the puck off your stick. The 'protect the puck' feature is particularly useful for doing this because not only will it keep the puck on your stick more it will also often draw a penalty if you lose it.

Backhand/Forehand Deke

In any NHL 20 game mode, when on a breakaway or driving into the offensive zone and your only option is to shoot from in close, this will be useful. Hold the wrist shot button down(depends on controller settings) and hold the puck on your forehand and when you get close enough move the left stick to your backhand, aim up and release the wrist shot button.
