Nothing brightens the day like a trailer from Batman: Arkham City, right? Well, maybe some news to go along with the trailer would make it a little brighter, a little better, sure!
The most recent word is that Mark Hamill (Star Wars, The Big Red One) has confirmed that he will be voicing the character of The Joker in the upcoming sequel to Arkham Asylum according to Screenrant.com. The actor has a long list of credits for voice work in animated cartoons, anime, and video games, but is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Joker in the animated Batman, which ran from 1992 to 1995.
Considering the fact that Hamill has appeared as the Joker in 15 episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, 3 episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, 5 episodes of The New Batman Adventures, 5 episodes of Justice League, and 1 episode of Static Shock, there really cannot be much doubt that he knows the character and can carry it off!
He also played the Joker in the theatrical film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) and the direct-to-video film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000) bringing a unique interpretation to the character that makes it his own and yet instantly recognizable as the Dark Knight's arch enemy. Heath Ledger attempted to do the same thing when he took on the role with something of a mixed success... Original... But different.
The question on the minds of most gamers is a simple one: will Arkham City live up to Asylum? The answer is not simple, but from the way it is shaping up based upon trailers and the limited preview, is a qualified yes!
