Remember all of those times your mom told you to go outside and play every time she caught you on the couch playing your video game? Remember the dire warning that playing video games was bad for you, and only outside play was healthy? Well, a new survey from the American Heart Association says not so much, really!
The study shows that 58 percent of people who play video games that use motion controllers have begun a new real-life fitness activity like walking, tennis or jogging since they started playing the games. A whopping 68 percent of the people surveyed say they are more physically active since they got involved in video games than before they played!
Considering that Nintendo was the first major gaming hardware company to feature motion-aware controllers for their gaming console, it should not come as much of a surprise that they are taking the survey to heart -- and building their latest adverts around it!
The American Heart Association is endorsing two of Nintendo's full-motion fitness games -- Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort, and Nintendo is slapping their logo on the boxes to make sure you have evidence to show your mom if she questions the veracity of your claim that staying indoors and playing your video games is better than going outside and freezing!
Now if I could just get them to endorse Fallout: New Vegas I'd be set!
