Not rich enough to be able to afford an Sony Xperia Play, or too much in love with your iPhone to give it up? This new app for the PlayStation Vita is almost the best of both worlds.
Already bringing a superb level of gaming on the go and the well performing social features together, in glorious, glorious handheld harmony, Sony's new portable is now kicking that up a notch with the addition of a Skype app, giving PlayStation Vita players access to the video-chatting and calling services that the popular communication website 'Skype' allows.
Sony say that the app will run in 'background mode' on their console, with you being able to pause your game to have a quick conversation with one of your fellow Skype using buddies before returning to your game. It will also utilise both the front and rear cameras included on the PlayStation Vita - a feature they say holds the added benefit of "never missing a call[,] even when playing a game or using another app".
Cited as the very first time that video calling has been available on PlayStation device, the Skype app is now available to download, for free, from the PlayStation Store - listed under the 'Social' section.
