When Batman: Arkham Asylum was approaching its release date a lot of gamers -- and more than a few reviewers who were previewing the game without the benefit of hand's on time -- questioned the need for yet another mediocre attempt at bringing the experience of the Dark Knight to gamers. And then it was released and the world found itself confronted by what was clearly the best and most realistic Batman gaming experience ever created. It is difficult to quantify but it really was a shocking surprise -- but in a good way!
Following up that mind-blowing experience with a sequel has to be a challenge but as we saw at E3 Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Entertainment managed to do one hell of a job, leaving gamers itching to get their hands on the game. Today the pair unveiled details and images for Batman: Arkham City Collector's Edition -- and how awesome is that?
The word is that the package will be available in limited quantities for $99 US beginning October 18th, 2011 in North America for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows PC -- and based upon the goodies that are supposed to be in it, we suspect it is not going to be one of those games that goes into the bargain bin three months later!
The Batman: Arkham City Collector's Edition will include the following bonus content:
-- Custom Batman statue produced by Kotobukiya
-- Collectible art book
-- Early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin
-- Batman: Arkham City album from WaterTower Music including original songs by hit artists, available via digital redemption
-- Bonus DC Universe animated original movie, Batman: Gotham Knight
-- Four collectible cards
Note to Mom: My birthday is in October... Hint.
