GameStop Announces Epic Reward Giveaway trip to Netherrealm Studios

New and used game retailer GameStop has announced that customers who are members of the loyalty program "PowerUp Rewards" could win an all-expenses-paid trip to meet Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon at NetherRealm Studios.

Members are automatically entered for a chance to win when they make a purchase or trade in throughout the month of March using their PowerUp Rewards card at any GameStop store, or online via GameStop.com.

The reward includes:

* An all-expense paid trip for the gamer and a friend to meet creator Ed Boon and tour NetherRealm Studios in Chicago, IL (USA)

* Klassic Mortal Kombat Arkade Cabinet with Gaming System and LCD Screen

* A tournament edition copy of Mortal Kombat signed by the Mortal Kombat development team

According to the published rules regular members of the loyalty program are automatically entered into the contest when they make a purchase or a trade, while PowerUp Rewards Pro-level Members automatically receive two entries with a purchase or trade.

Mortal Kombat -- commonly abbreviated as MK -- is literally a franchise surrounding the classic video game that established the series -- a game based on the popular actor / martial artist, Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Originally an arcade-style fighting game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, MK successfully made the transition from stand-up arcade format to home gaming console, and along the way has spun-off a full-length theatrical motion picture, live-action and animated features, a television series, comic books, card games and a plethora of other entertainment offerings based upon the series.

The series is especially noted for its realistic graphics and a high levels of blood and gore, and maintains an almost cult-like following among gamers who are fans of the fighting genre. A trip to the studio and a chance to meet one of the creators would be about on par with spending a weekend hanging out with Stan Lee for a comic book fan, making this giveaway rather epic.
