Full Review of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for Nintendo DS
Other Reviews for this game
Introduction
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is a direct sequel to the GBA game, Aria of Sorrow. However, one does not need to play Aria of Sorrow to enjoy this game. Returning from the game is Soma Cruz, the one who was destined to become the Dark Lord. A woman by the name of Celia Fortner is trying to make the Dark Lord return.
Graphics
08
The game graphics are fairly basic, much like those of a GBA. However, this isn't all that bad, considering this is a sequel, and developers were trying to keep the same feel of play. The intro is well made, but also short. There is not a lot of improvement from Aria of Sorrow.
Sound
09
Castlevania music is always good. The music in this game is no different. In fact, sound effects and background music actually helps gameplay. The background music helps let a player know which area of the castle they are in. Sound effects can help a player dodge a specific attack. Overall, sound quality is good.
Gameplay
10
Castlevania games always deliver when it comes to gameplay. This game is no different. Controls are basic and easy to understand. The game provides a challenge to experienced gamers, especially on Hard mode. Boss Rush mode also helps give players a sort of side quest. With three alternate endings, Dawn of Sorrow certainly has a lot to offer.
Lastability
09
Veteran Castlevania players know that Castlevania games can be difficult. This is true for Dawn of Sorrow. There are many areas to explore in the game, along with many souls to collect. In fact, some areas can only be reached by acquiring a certain monster's soul, which could take awhile. The game is worth buying.
Overall
09
Castlevania fans and those that have played Aria of Sorrow will definitely love this game. If you haven't bought a Castlevania game before, this game is one that you can start on. Dawn of Sorrow provides a challenging, yet rewarding game for all gamers to play.
Final Score : 90 %
