Full Review of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi for PlayStation 2

Introduction
The latest addition to the DBZ gaming collection completely changes the Budokai series. It is extremely well presented, and proves itself as a hard game worthy of living in your house. It has ups and downs reviewed below, but it is an awesome game to play.
Graphics
10
The graphics are slightly sharper than Budokai 3, with more detail on the characters,as well as the backgrounds. A large improvement to the earlier games. The characters now have a full 3d effect to them. The battlegrounds are more destructible, and the graphics to these explosions are great.
Sound
07
The sound in this game has taken a nosedive. In Goku's "Instantaneous Transmission Kamehameha" technique, it is very hard to hear his voice, and there is no impressive beam blast as it hits it's opponent. And sometimes you must strain to hear the character voices over the background noises.
Gameplay
09
Experienced Budokai players will have some trouble adjusting to the new battle style. Instead of the usual side on view, the camera moves much more, and the characters are free to fly around and move anywhere. I suggest spending an hour in practise mode against a fighting opponent. Z battle gate is filled with some old and new battles, as well as some 'what if battles' such as chiotzu vs guldo.
Lastability
08
Z battle gate is the main objective to the game, and for me it has taken two days to accomplish. After that, most of it is fusing items to unlock characters or winning the tournaments. There isn't much left after Z battle gate, which proves disappointing.
Overall
08
Despite the new roaming features, Budokai Tenkaichi is like the other games. A true DBZ fan will certainly enjoy this game, but newcomers may be offput by the difficulty of some of the fights, as well as the style of movement. My personal opinion; Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi is worth buying. It is fun, well thought out, and is more challenging than most games.
Final Score : 84 %
