Full Review of Wii Sports for Wii
Previous | Other Reviews for this game
Introduction
This is a great family game, especially if you have 2 or more Wii Remotes to do multiplayer! It's fun and a great first game to play on the Wii to get used to the new controls. It includes 5 different sports to play: tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing (which requires a Nunchuk).
Graphics
08
The characters in the game look exactly like the Miis on the Mii Channel. In some cases they have different-looking arms or legs, or none at all. You play as your Mii, and your other Miis cheer you on (or play on your team, like in baseball) as you face an opponent.

The scenery, backgrounds, and fields are all excellent. Golf definitely has some of the best graphics, and all aspects of the course look real.

As far as the motion of the game, most don't look entirely real but still have a good general effect. Some of the best action graphics are in boxing, where the impact of each punch can be clearly seen.
Sound
09
Overall, the sounds are pretty good. The announcer's voice always sounds good, as do the special sounds like when you win or lose or earn a medal. The cheering or groaning crowd also sounds very realistic. You can also hear the background noises of the outdoors in golf and the rest of the alley in bowling, which are both done very well.
Gameplay
10
As mentioned before, there are 5 separate sports within Wii Sports. In each of these, a player competes against computer characters to earn points for winning. The goal is to become a pro by earning 1,000 points in any specific sport. However, by losing a game you lose points, so you can lose your pro status if you're not careful! All of the games are done very realistically, with the motion of the Wii Remote perfectly corresponding with your racket, bat, arm, club or boxing gloves on the screen.

The second aspect of the game is training. There are three training modes for each sport; the second and third are unlocked by attempting the first. These are just as much fun as the sports themselves! Try to earn a bronze, silver, gold, or even a platinum medal by scoring high. Compare high scores with other players on your Wii, and compete to be the best!

Don't forget to measure your Wii Sports Age to see how well you measure up to your actual age! Three training modes are chosen at random, then your scores are evaluated to determine your age. Shoot for 20!
Lastability
08
This game is a perfect starter to your collection of Wii titles. As your first game (it comes with the Wii), it is fun to play over and over again. You can enjoy this game for a while without getting bored. However, it is only limited to 5 sports and 15 training minigames, so playing it for weeks on end can get pretty dull. This is a great game to keep on the shelf and pull out for a week every month or two between your other games, and will entertain you every time.
Overall
10
This game is a great addition to any collection. It is especially good as an introduction to the Wii system, and fun to play with friends or family. High scores lists make it a lot more fun, as you can compete with other users on your Wii for the best score. Earn medals, increase your rankings, and become a pro! With a selection of five different sports, Wii Sports has something for everybody.
Final Score : 90 %
