Although you are playing through the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie there are several side quests which makes gameplay more interesting as they give you more insight into the story by showing off-screen moments and events from directly before the film.
Blaster Battles
These are cover-based shooter segments during the game where the object is to score headshots, build combos, and pick off waves of enemies.
Aerial Battles
These segments are dogfights where you can pilot ships like Poe's X-Wing or the Millennium Falcon and are similar to those you would expect from 'Star Wars Battlefront' but on a smaller scale.
Multi-Build
As with previous games in the Lego series you can build items that will help you beat the game and earn you bonuses. But now there is a Multi-Build system which allows you to still build items but by holding the analog stick in different directions along with a button (depends on what system you are on) you can make different objects in certain situations which can then help you solve puzzles which in turn leads to secrets and collectables.
Studs
Scattered throughout the different worlds are studs, these are little multi-coloured pieces that have different values which you pick up to add to a stud bar at the top center of the screen which once completely full will give you the status of 'True Jedi' and earn you an additional Gold Brick once the stage is complete.
