There are 5 normal ranked tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond) in League of Legends along with a Challenger Tier, which represents the highest level of competitive League of Legends play. Each tier consists of 5 divisions which the player can progress through by gaining League Points for winning games.The player can get promoted within the tier by winning a best-of-3 series and can get promoted to a higher tier by winning a best-of-5 series after they have gained 99 League Points in their respective division. If the player is unranked they must play a a series of 10 placement matches which determines their initial starting tier and division.
